In this fun introduction to AI, students in grades VA will first experiment with using it in drawing (Autodraw) and then train a real machine learning model to identify sea creatures and debris in the ocean (Code.org ). After trying to classify objects as “fish” or “non-fish” in an attempt to remove waste from the ocean, students will need to expand their training dataset to include other marine creatures that belong to the marine habitat. In the second part of the activity, students will choose their own labels to apply to randomly generated fish images. This training data will then be used for a machine learning model that should be able to label new images on its own.
